Magnesium for Tinnitus: What Research Does and Doesn't Show
Magnesium for tinnitus is not backed by a guideline or by any trial we cite. The 2026 guideline update tells clinicians not to recommend dietary supplements for persistent, bothersome ringing. Magnesium is a real mineral that your body needs, but needing it is not the same as treating ringing. Quietum Plus does not list magnesium.

Does magnesium help with tinnitus?
Magnesium has not been shown to help tinnitus in any source we cite. We found no guideline that recommends it.
The 2026 guideline update says clinicians should not recommend dietary supplements for persistent, bothersome tinnitus (AAO-HNSF Tinnitus Update 2026). The NIDCD says that vitamins, herbs and supplements advertised for ringing have not been proven (NIDCD, Tinnitus). Small studies of magnesium may exist, but we have not reviewed them, so we make no claim from them.
| Source | Says about supplements |
|---|---|
| AAO-HNSF 2026 | Do not recommend for persistent, bothersome tinnitus |
| NIDCD | Advertised supplements not proven |
| Cochrane reviews we cite | Cover ginkgo and zinc, not magnesium |
| Quietum Plus sales page | Magnesium not listed |
Why do people link magnesium to ringing?
People link magnesium to ringing because it is a common mineral sold for nerves, sleep and muscles. That popularity is not evidence for tinnitus.
Ringing has over 200 possible causes, and about 9 in 10 people with tinnitus have noise-related hearing loss (Mayo Clinic, Tinnitus). A pill aimed at one idea can miss the real cause, such as earwax or a hearing change.
- A mineral being needed by the body does not make extra a treatment.
- Online stories are not trials.
- A hearing exam checks causes that a pill cannot.
What should you ask before taking a magnesium supplement?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist whether magnesium fits your health and medicines. Minerals can interact with some drugs, and we do not know yours.
For example, zinc binds certain antibiotics in the gut, so timing matters (NIH ODS, Zinc). Ask whether any mineral does the same with your medicine. Kidney problems are another reason to check first. Keep taking prescribed medicine. See the side effects page for the wider list of questions.

See packsDoes Quietum Plus contain magnesium?
No, magnesium is not among the 18 ingredients on the Quietum Plus sales page. The list has herbs, amino acids, vitamin A, "vitamin B" and zinc.
The bottle prints no Supplement Facts panel, so amounts and other ingredients are unknown. Compare the full ingredient list with any claim you read. The hearing supplements guide shows what trials found for zinc, ginkgo and others.
Quietum Plus is a capsule supplement, not a treatment for ringing. Follow your bottle's label.

01FAQ
Magnesium and tinnitus questions
Can low magnesium cause tinnitus?
We found no source that shows it. Mayo Clinic links ringing to noise, hearing loss, earwax, blood vessel problems and some medicines (Mayo Clinic, Tinnitus). If you think a deficiency matters, ask your doctor about a blood test instead of guessing with pills.
Is magnesium from food better than a supplement?
Food gives magnesium along with other nutrients. We cannot say it treats ringing either way. A supplement adds a set amount, so check the label and ask your pharmacist about your medicines.
Do hearing supplements usually contain magnesium?
Some do and some do not, and labels vary. Read the Supplement Facts panel for each mineral and amount. Quietum Plus prints no such panel on its bottle front, so ask the order desk before you buy.
