Muira puama and ginger

Muira Puama and Ginger in Quietum Plus: What Research Shows

Quick answer

Muira puama and ginger share tile 4 of the Quietum Plus sales page. Muira puama is an Amazon wood sold for libido with almost no human trials. Ginger is a kitchen root studied mainly for nausea. We found no hearing trial of either, and the sales page prints no amount for them.

01The two ingredients

What are muira puama and ginger?

Muira puama is a small Amazon tree used for its wood and root. Ginger is the familiar spice root, Zingiber officinale.

The sales page lists the pair on tile 4 and attaches no claim of its own to it (Quietum Plus sales page). Neither herb appears on the bottle front. No amount, extract type or plant part is printed in the images or on the page.

One of them is nearly unknown to science, and the other is among the best known kitchen herbs. That difference shapes what we can say about each.

02Muira puama

Why is muira puama called potency wood?

Because it is sold as a herbal aphrodisiac, and the name stuck.

The name "potency wood" comes from the herb's trade use for sexual vitality. It is one of the herbs a safety review groups with maca, damiana and ashwagandha as herbal sexual enhancers (Brunetti et al., Herbal Sexual Enhancers).

That review found that most of the plants it covered looked safe at normal doses, with trouble mainly from overdosing or unstandardized products. It also said that few data exist on the side effects of several of them (Brunetti et al., Herbal Sexual Enhancers). For muira puama alone we found no separate source, so we cannot give you a safety record. Ask your pharmacist about it as you would any herb with little data.

03Ginger

What does ginger do in a capsule?

Ginger is studied mostly for nausea, and oral ginger has been used safely in many studies.

NCCIH reports that ginger may help with nausea in pregnancy, while most motion-sickness studies show no benefit. It adds that research on cramps and knee pain is often poor in quality (NCCIH, Ginger). The page does not mention tinnitus or hearing.

Side effects named there are stomach discomfort, heartburn, diarrhea and mouth or throat irritation. NCCIH also says to talk with a health care provider before using ginger if you take any medicine (NCCIH, Ginger).

Quietum Plus does not say how much ginger a capsule holds, so studies at set doses cannot be matched to it.

04Medicines

Can ginger affect bleeding or blood sugar medicines?

Ginger has bleeding case reports with warfarin. Our sources do not say anything about blood sugar medicines.

A review of herb and warfarin reports lists severe bleeding events in people taking warfarin with herbs that include ginger and dong quai (Milic et al., Warfarin-Herb Interactions). Dong quai is also in Quietum Plus, on tile 3. Case reports cannot show how often this happens, but warfarin has a narrow safe range.

For diabetes medicine, we found no source that states a ginger effect on blood sugar. The NCCIH advice still applies: tell your provider about anything you take with medicine (NCCIH, Ginger).

Two listed herbs, ginger and dong quai, have bleeding reports. See the dong quai page.

05Hearing

Is there research on muira puama and hearing?

No. We found no trial of muira puama or ginger for hearing loss or tinnitus.

The NIDCD says no vitamin, herb or supplement advertised for tinnitus has been shown to work (NIDCD, Tinnitus). The 2026 guideline advises against recommending supplements for persistent, bothersome tinnitus (AAO-HNSF Tinnitus Update 2026).

Tinnitus has causes that a capsule cannot fix, such as earwax, noise damage or medicines (Mayo Clinic, Tinnitus). Get new ringing checked first.

When ringing is a doctor question, not a supplement question

Sudden hearing loss in one ear (same day), ringing that beats with your pulse, ringing after a head injury, or ringing with dizziness, weakness or a drooping face. Call 911 for sudden weakness or a drooping face. Sources: NIDCD on sudden deafness (NIDCD, Sudden Deafness), the NHS (NHS, Tinnitus), Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic, Tinnitus) and the tinnitus guideline (AAO-HNSF Tinnitus Guideline 2014).

06Amount

How much ginger is in Quietum Plus?

The amount is not printed on the bottle front, in our images or on the sales page.

The same is true of muira puama and of all 18 ingredients. There is no Supplement Facts panel in the images we have, and the page says only that the capsules are "Easy To Use" (Quietum Plus sales page).

Some bottle renders on the site show ginger root next to the bottles. That is decoration. A picture of a root is not a measured amount. Check the panel on your own bottle for the amount and the serving, and read our label page for the full list of gaps.

07Next

What should you check before taking Quietum Plus because of muira puama and ginger?

Check for warfarin, check the bottle and check your ears.

08FAQ

Muira puama and ginger questions, short answers

What is muira puama?

Muira puama is a small Amazon tree whose wood and root are sold as an herbal aphrodisiac. It has almost no human trials, and a review of herbal sexual enhancers notes few side-effect data (Brunetti et al., Herbal Sexual Enhancers). It shares tile 4 with ginger.

Why is muira puama called potency wood?

The nickname comes from its use as a herbal aphrodisiac. It says what the herb is sold for, not what it does. The review that covers it found few data on side effects and no link to hearing (Brunetti et al., Herbal Sexual Enhancers).

What does ginger do in a capsule?

Ginger is studied mainly for nausea. NCCIH says it may help with pregnancy-related nausea, while most motion-sickness studies show no benefit (NCCIH, Ginger). It can cause heartburn or stomach upset, and nothing there mentions tinnitus.

Can ginger affect bleeding or blood sugar medicines?

Ginger has case reports of bleeding with warfarin (Milic et al., Warfarin-Herb Interactions). We found no source on blood sugar medicines, but NCCIH says to talk with a provider before using ginger with any medicine (NCCIH, Ginger).

Is there research on muira puama and hearing?

No. We found no trial of muira puama or ginger for hearing loss or tinnitus. The NIDCD says no supplement advertised for ringing has been shown to work (NIDCD, Tinnitus), so get a hearing exam for new ringing.

How much ginger is in Quietum Plus?

The amount is not printed. Our images show no Supplement Facts panel, and the sales page lists ginger by name only (Quietum Plus sales page). Read your own bottle for the amount and the serving, and ask your pharmacist if you take blood thinners.
