L-tyrosine and L-arginine
L-Tyrosine and L-Arginine in Quietum Plus: What to Know
L-tyrosine and L-arginine are two amino acids on tile 9 of the Quietum Plus sales page, which says they "May exhibit significant mood-enhancing properties". L-tyrosine has short stress studies in healthy adults, and L-arginine can lower blood pressure. We found no hearing trial of either, and no amount is printed.

01The two ingredients
What are L-tyrosine and L-arginine?
Both are amino acids, the building blocks of protein. The body makes dopamine from one and nitric oxide from the other.
They are the last pair on the sales page, on tile 9, and the only amino acids in the formula (Quietum Plus sales page). The page calls the formula "18 special high-quality plant extracts", but these two are not plants.
The bottle front does not name them, and the amount of each is not printed. That gap matters for L-arginine in particular, because its cautions depend on the dose.

02L-tyrosine
What does L-tyrosine do?
The body uses L-tyrosine to make dopamine and thyroid hormone. As a supplement it was studied for thinking under short-term stress.
A review of 14 trials tested tyrosine in healthy adults under short-term stress. It found a weak case in favor of tyrosine for thinking under stress and said the evidence was too thin for confident advice (Attipoe et al., Tyrosine Review).
Those were short stress tests in healthy people. They did not look at depression, mood disorders or tinnitus (Attipoe et al., Tyrosine Review). A capsule that you take every day for ringing in the ears is a different situation.
Because the body also uses tyrosine to build thyroid hormone, people with thyroid disease or thyroid medicine should ask their doctor first. Our sources do not state an interaction, so we cannot say more than that. The same goes for MAOI antidepressants: ask your pharmacist.
03L-arginine
What does L-arginine do?
L-arginine is used by the body to make nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels. As a supplement it may lower blood pressure.
Mayo Clinic says oral L-arginine may lower blood pressure and might help erectile dysfunction with a physical cause. It is generally considered safe, but you should talk to your doctor first if you take a blood pressure drug (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
Listed side effects include nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, headache and worse asthma. Mayo does not recommend it after a recent heart attack (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). The page does not mention hearing.
| Amino acid | Main research | Hearing or tinnitus |
|---|---|---|
| L-tyrosine | Short stress tests in healthy adults (Attipoe et al., Tyrosine Review) | None found |
| L-arginine | Blood pressure and ED, with a Mayo caution list (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine) | None found |
04Medicines
Can L-arginine lower blood pressure, and does it interact with nitrates or ED drugs?
Yes to both. It may lower blood pressure, and Mayo lists nitrates and sildenafil among the medicines that can drop it too far.
Mayo names nitrates, sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio), isoproterenol and blood pressure medicines as drugs that may push pressure too low with L-arginine. It also lists higher bleeding risk with blood thinners, lower blood sugar with diabetes drugs and high potassium with potassium-sparing diuretics (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
Quietum Plus holds ginger and dong quai, which have bleeding reports with warfarin (Milic et al., Warfarin-Herb Interactions), so a blood thinner raises more than one flag. The label does not say how much L-arginine a capsule has.
Nitrates and ED drugs
Pressure can fall too low. Do not combine without a doctor.
Blood pressure medicine
Dizziness or fainting when standing needs a call to your prescriber.
After a heart attack
Mayo does not recommend L-arginine after a recent one (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).

Do amino acids improve mood as the sales page says?
The evidence we found does not show it. The page's wording is hedged and gives no source.
Tile 9 says the pair "May exhibit significant mood-enhancing properties" (Quietum Plus sales page). The word "may" does the work in that line, and "significant" has no number behind it.
| Sales page says | What we found |
|---|---|
| "May exhibit significant mood-enhancing properties" | Tyrosine trials were short stress tests, not mood studies (Attipoe et al., Tyrosine Review). The NCCIH depression digest does not cover either amino acid (NCCIH, Depression Digest). |
The bottle's Mood Support line is a general wording. It does not name a condition, and no trial tested Quietum Plus. Low mood that lasts, or any thought of self-harm, needs a clinician or a crisis line, not a capsule.
06Hearing
Is there evidence that L-tyrosine or L-arginine helps tinnitus?
No. We found no trial of either amino acid for hearing loss or ringing in the ears.
The NIDCD says no supplement advertised for tinnitus has been shown to work (NIDCD, Tinnitus), and the 2026 guideline advises clinicians not to recommend one for persistent, bothersome tinnitus (AAO-HNSF Tinnitus Update 2026).
New ringing, ringing in one ear or ringing with other symptoms needs an exam first.
When ringing is a doctor question, not a supplement question
Sudden hearing loss in one ear (same day), ringing that beats with your pulse, ringing after a head injury, or ringing with dizziness, weakness or a drooping face. Call 911 for sudden weakness or a drooping face. Sources: NIDCD on sudden deafness (NIDCD, Sudden Deafness), the NHS (NHS, Tinnitus), Mayo Clinic (Mayo Clinic, Tinnitus) and the tinnitus guideline (AAO-HNSF Tinnitus Guideline 2014).

What should you check before taking Quietum Plus because of L-arginine?
Check your blood pressure and heart medicines first, then the label.
Keep taking any prescribed medicine and do not change it for a supplement. Our supplements and medicines guide covers the questions to ask. See the benefits page for the five support lines and all 18 ingredients for the rest of the formula.
08FAQ
L-tyrosine and L-arginine questions, short answers
What does L-tyrosine do?
The body uses L-tyrosine to make dopamine and thyroid hormone. As a supplement it was studied for thinking under short-term stress in healthy adults, with weak and thin evidence (Attipoe et al., Tyrosine Review). It was not tested for mood disorders or tinnitus.
What does L-arginine do?
The body uses L-arginine to make nitric oxide. Mayo Clinic says oral L-arginine may lower blood pressure and might help erectile dysfunction with a physical cause (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Its amount in a Quietum Plus capsule is not printed.
Can L-arginine lower blood pressure?
Yes, it may. Mayo says to talk to your doctor first if you take a blood pressure drug, and it advises against L-arginine after a recent heart attack (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Dizziness on standing is a reason to call your prescriber.
Does L-arginine interact with nitrates or ED drugs?
Yes. Mayo lists nitrates and sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio) among medicines that may push blood pressure too low with L-arginine (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Do not combine them unless your doctor has reviewed the full label of your bottle.
Can L-tyrosine affect thyroid medicine or MAOIs?
The body uses tyrosine to make thyroid hormone, so thyroid patients should ask first. Our sources do not state an interaction with thyroid medicine or MAOI antidepressants, so we cannot confirm one. Ask your pharmacist before you start.
Do amino acids improve mood as the sales page says?
The evidence we found does not show it. The page says only that the pair "May exhibit significant mood-enhancing properties" (Quietum Plus sales page), while tyrosine trials were short stress tests (Attipoe et al., Tyrosine Review). Persistent low mood needs a clinician.
