Quietum Plus and Blood Pressure: L-Arginine and Medicines

Quick answer

Quietum Plus and blood pressure is a question to settle with your doctor. The capsules list L-arginine, which Mayo Clinic says may lower blood pressure, and ashwagandha, which can interact with blood pressure medicines. The amounts are not printed. If you take any blood pressure or heart medicine, ask before you start.

Does Quietum Plus affect blood pressure?

It might, but no one has measured it. The capsules have not been tested on blood pressure, and the amount of each ingredient is not printed.

The reason to ask is the ingredient list. L-arginine is on the ninth tile, and oral L-arginine may lower blood pressure (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). The ingredient page is L-tyrosine and L-arginine.

A second name matters too. Ashwagandha may interact with blood pressure medicines, among others (NIH ODS, Ashwagandha).

Which medicines should you ask about with L-arginine?

Ask about nitrates, sildenafil and similar erectile dysfunction medicines, and blood pressure medicines. Mayo lists these as combinations that can drop blood pressure too low (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).

Blood thinners, diabetes medicines and potassium-sparing water pills also appear on that list. Mayo does not recommend L-arginine after a recent heart attack.

We do not know your medicines, so we cannot say it is fine with any of them. Keep taking prescribed medicine, and ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not change a dose on your own

If you worry that blood pressure is too high or too low, call your prescriber. Do not adjust it yourself.

Why does piperine matter for blood pressure medicine?

Piperine, the pepper compound listed with ashwagandha, can raise the blood level of some drugs. In a 1991 study of six healthy people per group, it raised levels of propranolol, a beta-blocker, and theophylline (Bano et al., Piperine and Propranolol).

That study was tiny and used a set piperine dose, so it says nothing about Quietum Plus capsules. It is simply a reason to mention piperine to your pharmacist.

Our wider interaction notes are on the side effects page.

  • Tell your pharmacist about all 18 listed names.
  • Ask about nitrates, sildenafil and beta-blockers by name.
  • Share any dizziness or fainting right away.

01FAQ

Blood pressure questions

Can Quietum Plus raise blood pressure?

We found no evidence that it does, and none that it does not, because it has not been tested. L-arginine may lower pressure rather than raise it. Check your readings and tell your doctor about any change after you start.

Is Quietum Plus okay after a heart attack?

Ask your cardiologist first. Mayo does not recommend L-arginine after a recent heart attack, because it might raise the risk of death (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Quietum Plus lists L-arginine and does not print the amount.

Can I take Quietum Plus with a water pill?

Ask your doctor or pharmacist. L-arginine may raise potassium with potassium-sparing water pills, according to Mayo. We do not know which pill you take, so a clinician needs to check the list against your medicine.
