Vitamin B12 Tinnitus Research: Deficiency, Testing, Doses

Quick answer

Vitamin B12 and tinnitus are not linked by any proof that pills help. Low B12 can cause fatigue, tingling and nerve problems, and a blood test shows whether you are low. The 2026 guideline advises against supplements for persistent, bothersome ringing. Quietum Plus lists an unnamed "vitamin B" with no amount printed.

What does a vitamin B12 deficiency look like?

A B12 deficiency can cause fatigue, numbness and tingling in the hands and feet, a type of anemia and changes in thinking (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). These signs are the reason to ask about a blood test. Ringing is not on that list.

Absorption can drop with age or with some medicines. Acid-reducing drugs and metformin can lower how much B12 your body takes in (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). Ask your prescriber about this, and do not change a medicine on your own.

  • Constant tiredness with no clear cause
  • Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
  • Trouble with memory or focus
  • Long-term use of acid reducers or metformin

How is B12 tested, and what about doses?

A doctor checks B12 with a blood test, and your result decides what comes next. We do not give a dose here, because the right amount depends on your result and your health.

The adult daily recommendation from food is 2.4 mcg, and no upper limit has been set because B12 has low toxicity (NIH ODS, Vitamin B12). That is a nutrition fact, not advice to take a pill. A missing upper limit does not make every product a good idea.

  1. Mention the ringing

Tell your doctor when it started, which ear and whether it beats with your pulse.

  2. Ask about a blood test

Ask if a B12 check fits your symptoms and medicines.

  3. Follow the result

Keep taking prescribed medicine, and let your clinician pick any next step.

Does Quietum Plus contain vitamin B12?

Quietum Plus lists "vitamin B" on its sales page, but it does not say which B vitamin, so B12 is not confirmed. The bottle prints no Supplement Facts panel and no amounts.

The same tile lists vitamin A and zinc. A Cochrane review of three trials found no evidence that zinc improves tinnitus (Cochrane, Zinc for Tinnitus). Read the details on the vitamins A, B and zinc page. For the wider picture, see the hearing supplements guide.

If your ringing is new, one-sided or comes with dizziness, start with the tinnitus basics page and a doctor. Quietum Plus is a capsule supplement, not a treatment for ringing.

01FAQ

Vitamin B12 and tinnitus questions

Can low vitamin B12 cause ringing in the ears?

The sources we cite do not list ringing as a sign of B12 deficiency. They list fatigue, tingling, anemia and thinking changes. Ringing has many causes, so see a doctor for a hearing exam and ask whether a B12 blood test makes sense.

Is a B12 supplement safe to take with other medicines?

Not always. Some medicines change how much B12 you absorb, and your own medicines are unknown to us. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you add any B vitamin, and follow your bottle's label.

Why does Quietum Plus not name its B vitamin?

The sales page lists only "vitamin B" and shows no amounts or form. The bottle has no Supplement Facts panel. Ask the order desk at +1 (302) 200-3480 which B vitamin is inside before you buy.
